Subject: Conference on archaeological conservation
The Archaeology Section of the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation announces the first of four 21st Anniversary conferences to be held during 1997/87. Power, Thought and Greed 5th Dec 1997 at the Museum of London Three sessions of presentations and discussions on issues facing archaeological conservation today :Politics, Philosophy and Economics. The day is focussed on the role of archaeological conservators within the archaeological team and covers topics such as changes in the role of the conservator and of archaeology, tendering, standards, the application of PPGs, funding research, legislation, the Treasure Bill and preservation of the finds archive. Fee: 30 Pounds (UKIC members 25 Pounds) The conference includes a tour of the Museum of London laboratories and a party afterwards. The Section plans to publish the conference papers.
