Subject: Fume extraction
The National Gallery of Victoria is currently planning a comprehensive building redevelopment, including the Conservation laboratories. An issue of concern within the Conservation Department is the upgrading of fume extraction systems to meet health and safety needs. We would be interested to hear from other institutions with comments on the effectiveness of their 'elephant trunk' type fume extractors and their consequent effect on air-management systems, in particular control of relative humidity; noise; and an overall opinion of whether they are the best solution to fume control.
