Highlights of the one-day program include:

    *   a keynote address on "Eight Sure-Fire Ways to Raise Money
        for Collections Care" by Arthur W. Schultz, life trustee and
        former chairman of the board of trustees of the Art
        Institute of Chicago and life honorary trustee and past
        president  of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Santa
        Barbara, Calif.  He is the retired chief executive officer
        of the international advertising and communications firm
        Foote, Cone & Belding Communications

    *   a presentation on fund-raising fundamentals by Fisher Howe,
        partner, Lavender/Howe & Associates, a Washington, D.C. fund
        raising and management consulting firm for nonprofit
        organizations

    *   steps for creating a strategic plan to raise money for
        collections care by Pamela R. Seay, assistant director for
        development and public affairs, Virginia Historical Society

    *   tips for making a grant application stand out by Sharon
        Casale, grants coordinator for the Virginia Museum of Fine
        Arts

    *   how to use federally funded surveys as building blocks for
        fund raising by Malinda Collier, director of collections,
        Museum of the Confederacy

    *   how a small university museum secured funding to improve the
        care and conservation of its collection by Jeanne Zeidler,
        director, Hampton University Museum

The workshop is scheduled for 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.  The $50 fee covers
registration, lunch, breaks and informational materials.  Deadline
for registration is April 11.
