Textile Conservator

There is a vacant position as a textile conservator at Norsk
Folkemuseum (the Norwegian Folk Museum) in Oslo, Norway. The
conservation section has studios for the following disciplines:
paintings, textiles and social history/ethnographic objects.

We are primarily seeking a textile conservator, alternatively
someone with a more general qualification, but worth special
emphasis on textiles. The textile conservator is to be responsible
for examination, conservation (preventive and active), restoration
and documentation of the museum's clothes- and textile collections
for exhibition, loan and storage. The conservator will have
immediate responsibility to the head of conservation.

The required qualification is a conservation degree with textile as
specialism or equivalent. The successful candidate will be a
responsible professional, able to work as part of a team, as well as
independently.

Salary range (according to the tate wage scale): NOK 195.000 -
239.600 per annum (approx. GBP 18.000 - 22.000). There is a trial
period of 6 months.
