Subject: Chicago Area Conservation Group (CACG)
The Chicago Area Conservation Group will hold its March, 1997 meeting at The McCrone Associate Laboratories in Westmont Illinois, Tuesday March 25, 1997 from 6-8 PM. The McCrone Group has grown along the path set by Dr. Walter C. McCrone when he left the structured academic world of chemical research to establish the company in 1956. In these 41 years, The McCrone Group has grown from one man with his microscope to a 40 member team offering a variety of modern microscopy solving capabilities including: Micro Fourier Transform Infrared (micro-FTIR); Electron Microprobe or Scanning Electron Microscopy; and Auger Spectroscopy. Modern art conservators need these types of tools at their disposal to fully grasp the nature of historic materials and why they degrade. If you have an immediate need or just wish to know more about how and why these processes work, we welcome you to join us. The meeting will include a presentation of various case studies of art and archaeological projects which have been analyzed at McCrone along with a tour of the facilities. The McCrone Group is located at 850 Pasquinelli Dr. Westmont, Illinois for more information, contact CACG president Craig Deller at 630-232-1708 *** Conservation DistList Instance 10:82 Distributed: Thursday, March 20, 1997 Message Id: cdl-10-82-016 ***Received on Monday, 17 March, 1997
