Subject: Odor in textile collection
Maybe the subject can be discussed at the meeting on paper and textile restoration which takes place at Tainan university in Tainan, Taiwan at the end of May 1997. >From a chemical point of view it is not easy to analyse odors. The nose is a more sensitive detector than any analytical tool. The limit of detection of analytical sensors is in the range of ppm or ppb, so it might be difficult to analyse a gaseous sample for odorous compounds. We have to think about a series of trials or experiments to solve the problem. Hai-Yen Hua-Stroefer E.
