Please respond directly to sender and if of general interest post it here as well Two students at Buckinghamshire College require assistance with the restoration of badly insect infested timber. One piece in question is a country chair with broken seat rail which needs consolidating before restoration can begin. Can anyone advise on the use of the following consolidants: xylamon LX Hardening Paraloid B72 Rutapox I - 93/2 Vinnapas The chair is not a museum piece and will have to be strong enough for everyday use when the restoration is complete. Can anyone who has used the above consolidants give advice on their application and success with regard to strength, durability and brittleness. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions? Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks, Ann and Scott *** Conservation DistList Instance 10:78 Distributed: Thursday, March 6, 1997 Message Id: cdl-10-78-023 ***Received on Wednesday, 5 March, 1997
