10-12: Opening Remarks: Robert Croneberger, Director, Carnegie
Library of Pittsburgh

Keynote Address:  Anne Kenney, Associate Director, Department of
Preservation and Conservation, Cornell University. Anne Kenney has
been involved in a number of digital imaging projects, including
several for the Cornell University Digital Library and "The Making
of America Project", a digital initiative focusing on materials
important to the study of U.S. history. A member of the Clinton-Gore
Digital Review Committee for the National Archives,
Education/Labor/Arts and Humanities Cluster and the Imaging
Committee of the International Council on Archives, she has written
and spoken widely on digital imaging.

2-4: Panel discussion moderated by Anne Kenney. Based on their
individual experiences, panelists will comment on the overall
suitability of digitization as a preservation and access option and
specifically address issues of standards, selection and preparation
of materials, and the obligations of continued maintenance.
Participants will include:

    Richard Cox, Associate Professor, School of Information Science,
    University of Pittsburgh. Co-director of the Center for
    Electronic RecordKeeping and Archival Research

    Barry Chad, Assistant Head, Pennsylvania Department, Carnegie
    Library of Pittsburgh. Designed and implemented "Designing the
    Urban Landscape", an online hypertext exhibit sponsored by the
    Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh.

    Edward Galloway, Heinz Archivist, Carnegie Mellon University.
    One of the principal participants in the design, development,
    and implementation of The Heinz Electronic Library Interactive
    Online System (HELIOS).

    Sue Kellerman, Preservation Librarian, Pennsylvania State
    University.  Head of the Penn State University Library's Digital
    Preservation Project.

    Doris Hayashikawa, Coordinator for the Digital Library Research
    Center, University Library System, University of Pittsburgh

    Meg Bellinger, President, Preservation Resources.  Service
    provider for the Library of Congress' "Conversion of Microfilm
    to Digital Images" project for the National Digital Library
    Program, in addition to other projects for libraries and
    archives.
