All tours leave from the Preservation Directorate Office, James Madison Building, LMG21. Each tour will be offered six times during the conference, at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm each day, February 14, 15, and 16. Each tour will last about an hour. Available tours are: Preservation Research and Testing A first-hand look at the paper chemistry laboratory and research projects of the Preservation Research and Testing Division. Digital Audio Recording A demonstration of the new digital audio recording and reformatting facility is featured during an overview of audio preservation. Conserving Library Materials See the facilities and hear about measures taken to conserve rare book and paper library materials. Caring for Collections Includes demonstrations of the box making machine and tour of the book repair unit. Space is Limited to 15 (fifteen) persons each tour; Reservations are accepted on a 1st-come-1st-served basis. It may be necessary to assign over-flows to another group or time.
