Job descriptions

    **** Moderator's comments: There are a few job descriptions in
    CoOL. It would be very helpful if people would contribute more.
    If you have job descriptions for preservation positions, in
    electronic form, email them to waiscool<-a t->palimpsest< . >stanford< . >edu

With the opening of our new library in 1998, we will have an
opportunity to request some new staff positions. For the first
time, we will have a "real" conservation lab complete with a fume
hood, sinks, ultrasonic encapsulator, etc. This is a big
improvement from our current "make-do" book repair bay. At this
juncture, we do not have any full-time staff to work in this lab. I
plan to start requesting staff for the lab this spring.

I am interested in seeing position descriptions for employees who
work in conservation labs: professionally trained and certified
conservators, conservation technicians, conservation librarians,
student assistants, etc. I am particularly interested in seeing
positions that require an MLS as well as some conservation training
or experience. If you have position descriptions that you are
willing to share, please fax, email or mail them to me. Thank you,

Becky Ryder
