This is to announce 2 bookbinding workshops to be held at the North
Bennet Street School in Boston, MA.

1. Album Structures
Saturdays March 1 - March 22, 9 am to 5 pm
Rebekah Lord Gardiner, Instructor
Tuition: $330

    In this course you will focus on creating the kind of albums
    (for photographs, prints, and drawings) that you can make at
    home with readily available tools and a minimal amount of
    special equipment. this four day workshop will cover the
    evolution of albums structures, address the intention of the
    exterior structure as it relates to the body of work, and look
    at decorative techniques such as paste papers, marble papers and
    decorative ribbons.

2.  Advanced non-adhesive bookbinding
Saturdays: April 12 - May 10, 9 am to 5 pm
Sally Key, NBSS full-time Bookbinding Instructor
Tuition:$400

    This workshop will go beyond a review of the Coptic, longstitch,
    linkstitch, Chinese butterfly, tacketted and simple sewing
    structures to explore their limitless interpretations in our
    modern context. Through demonstrations, exercises, and
    discussions you will increase your understanding of these
    structures, and how to use them to express your needs, be they
    edition binding, conservation rebinding, artists books, or
    personal stationary binding.

Tuition includes course materials, and access to bench space and
equipment.  Students must provide their own hand tools.  Tool lists
are sent with confirmation of enrollment.
