Subject: Hygrothermograph placement
I am a student enrolled in Art Conservation at Sir Sandford Fleming College, Peterborough, Ontario. I am presently at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, in my third-year Internship. I am researching a project which involves the testing of 10 of the 67 exhibit and storage spaces that the Conservation Department monitors with Isuzu recording hygrothermographs. The purpose is to determine the optimal position for a hygrothermograph in a space, so that its "representative climate" is more accurately monitored. My research has uncovered many references to the operation of hygrothermographs and their tendency to drift, but I have been unable to find sources dealing with testing as a means of determining "representative climate", or what the best position is for a machine. What criteria have conservators in other institutions used to position their machines? Could anyone offer some advice, or else guide me to relevant publications or articles? *** Conservation DistList Instance 10:67 Distributed: Monday, January 27, 1997 Message Id: cdl-10-67-013 ***Received on Saturday, 25 January, 1997
