Seminar on Preservation Planning

From: C. Kehoe <ckehoe>
Date: Thursday, November 26, 1992
A one-day seminar, Visioning the Future: Planning for Preservation, will
be held at the University of Texas at Austin on Friday, April 30, 1993.
The speakers are Paul N. Banks and Carolyn L. Harris, faculty of the
Preservation and Conservation Education Programs (PCEP) at The
University of Texas at Austin, GSLIS.

The program will discuss identifying preservation problems through
planning processes and needs assessments -- from bringing in appropriate
consultants to self-studies involving the entire library or archives
staff. It will answer such questions as: "How can preservation issues
begin to be addressed in an institution of any size: small archives to
large research library?" The pro- gram will include demonstrations of
model computer programs that support planning efforts, CALIPR and GRASP;
and of new automated environmental monitoring equipment.
