Subject: CFC's and Wei To
Re: Nov. 15 Library Journal article "Chemicals in Deacidification Process Face Ban from EPA" The EPA is in the process of proposing a regulation banning CFC's in aerosol products that would effectively put Wei T'o out of business. The regulation is due in December and Richard Smith (maker of the above) is putting out a plea to Libraries to back his argument that Wei T'o should be given an exemption because 'no affordable substitutes exist', '90% of the library/ archive/museum community uses his solution', 'our heritage/history is at stake', etc. Opinions on this issue may be forwarded to David Lee, Chief, Stratosphere Ozone Protection Branch, EPA, 401 M St. SW, Washington, DC 20460. 202-233-9131. fax 202-233-9577. (This notice should not be construed as an agreement or endorsement of Mr. Smith's argument). *** Conservation DistList Instance 6:29 Distributed: Thursday, November 26, 1992 Message Id: cdl-6-29-005 ***Received on Monday, 23 November, 1992
