Subject: NEDCC Preservation microfilming workshop
The Northeast Documents Conservation Center (NEDCC) is presenting a workshop on Preservation Microfilming, Oct.14-16, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Documents Preservation Advisory Council. Funding in part is provided by The Pew Charitable Trusts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the H.W. Wilson Foundation. The purpose of the workshop is to facilitate the national preservation effort to microfilm brittle books and other research materials. The program is designed to train personnel in libraries or other agencies to plan, implement and manage filming projects. Participants will learn skills for planning micro- film projects, including developing specifications and writing contracts with vendors. They will obtain hands-on experience in operating a camera, inspecting completed film, and will be given an overview of the national standards and specifications for microfilm. Registration is $150 ($100 for those who already own PRESERVATION MICROFILMING edited by Nancy Gwinn), and attendance is limited to 15. Deadline for registering is 7 October. Faculty are Mark C.
