Subject: WAAC Newsletter
A nine-page article written by Walter Henry--Islands in the Net: A Guide to the Internet--is one of three feature articles in the September 1992 WAAC Newsletter. Written in Walter's relaxed but highly informative style, an overview is given of the basic services available in the Net, followed by a discussion of mailing lists (including a description of the Conservation DistList). Many ways to gain access to the Net are outlined, with discussion in each case of the limitations and advantages of various systems as well typical costs. Also in the September issue: An article about the structure of Western artists' brushes, written by fine arts technical consultant Zora Sweet Pinney, and a description of a new method for mounting oversized flat textiles by Denver conservator Elizabeth M. Red Elk. A two-page technical exchange column edited by Walter Henry and a brief article about building a medieval paper mill by Jack C. Thompson of Portland, Oregon, are other sections that might interest Conservation DistList subscribers. Issues cost $5 postpaid; prepaid orders only. Make check payable to WAAC. Send order to Elizabeth C. Welsh, Editor; WAAC Newsletter; 1213 W. San Miguel Avenue; Phoenix, Arizona 85013 USA. **** Moderator's comments: I think these announcements about what's going on in newsletters are a valuable service and would encourage those of you involved in other newsletters to post blurbs in the DistList. *** Conservation DistList Instance 6:18 Distributed: Tuesday, September 1, 1992 Message Id: cdl-6-18-004 ***Received on Tuesday, 1 September, 1992
