The NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES (NEH)
offers emergency relief for damaged humanities collections. For
additional information please contact:
NEH's Preservation and Access Office. Telephone: (202)786-0570.

The "CHAIRMAN'S EMERGENCY FUND GRANT" provides discretionary funds for
emergency relief of damaged humanities collection, including the cost
of: consultation; direct treatments; securing the collection(s) from the
elements; temporary storage; etc. Grants may be awarded up to $30,000
per project.

Request for funding may be formulated as a detailed letter (or by NEH's
normal grant procedures). Requests should detail the nature of the
emergency; the target materials and their importance to the humanities;
damage done; etc.

These grants fund only emergency relief for humanities collections. For
additional information, please call the telephone number above.

Regarding South Florida libraries:

Power has been restored to at least parts of the University of
Miami. Messages from some the UM Registrar's Office have begun to
    get to UF.

No contact with the Libraries at UM, FIU, FAU, Broward Co. Public or
    Miami/Dade Co. Public.

UF has made contact with its IFAS Homestead station, but not the
library. Staff are trying to make one building "livable"
