Subject: Survey data needed
A colleague and I are involved in creating a model for mathematically predicting book deterioration patterns based on the geographic location of the holding in situation. We seem to have found a really interesting pattern that is revealed in three brittle book surveys, but we need more data to see if our hypothesis holds true. If you have conducted a brittle book survey in your library, please help us. We are only looking for the percentage of the whole library collection that was found to be brittle, as measured by four double-folds or less. All we need is: (1) the percentage of the collection found to be brittle, (2) how many total books were surveyed, (3) how many double-folds were used in assessing brittleness, (4) the name and address of the institution surveyed, and (5) your name, address, phone and E-mail address in case we need to ask further questions. Thanks in advance for your contribution. Randy Silverman (801)378-2512.
