Massachusetts Preservation Agenda

From: Gregor Trinkaus-Randall <gtrinkaus>
Date: Monday, April 13, 1992
Preserved to Serve: The Massachusetts Preservation Agenda is now
available. The Massachusetts Task Force on Preservation and Access, the
Massachusetts Archives and the Massachusetts Board of Library
Commissioners announce the availability of Preserved to Serve: the
Massachusetts Preservation Agenda. Resulting from nearly two years of
work this document sets the stage for coordinated, cooperative
preservation action throughout the Commonwealth for library and archival
materials

The Task Force, composed of representatives of numerous library,
archives and public records constituencies, strove to create a document
that emphasized the dire need for coordinated, cooperative preservation
action on a statewide basis as well as the necessity for individual
institutions to address their own problems on a local level. The major
emphasis is on education of professionals, government officials and
patrons, but increased funding for preservation is also a key goal of
the Agenda.
