Subject: Rosenbach Lectures in Bibliography
The 1992 Rosenbach Lectures in Bibliography will be presented at the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center of the University of Pennsylvania on March 17, 19, and 24 by Wolfgang Milde, manuscripts librarian at the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbuttel, Germany. Dr. Milde's topic is "The Gospels of Henry the Lion," a remarkable illuminated manuscript auctioned in 1983 and retrieved (as a national treasure) for Germany at that time. It is now housed at the Herzog August Bibliothek. The Rosenbach Lectures are open to the public without charge. You and any interested readers, friends, art historians, medievalists, Germanists, etc., are welcome to attend any and all of these lectures if you can make it to Penn. Receptions will start at 5 P.M. on each evening; the lectures themselves start at 5:30. Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center is located at 3420 Walnut Street but entrance to the Library is from Locust Walk (south of Walnut Street). The entrance is marked by an unmistakable Claes Oldenburg statue of a broken button. Nearby parking is available (at a University lot at Walnut between 36th and 37th Streets on the north, right, side of Walnut; or at a Sheraton Hotel lot--Independence Hall Parking--on 34th and Chestnut Streets, entrances from both Chestnut, on the north, left side of the street, or 34th, on the west, right, side of the street). Bring a photo i.d. if you can for the benefit of the Library's doorguards. Elevators in the entrance lobby will take you to the sixth floor; turn left. Receptions will be held in the Henry Charles Lea Library; lectures will be presented in the Lessing J. Rosenwald Gallery. *** Conservation DistList Instance 5:36 Distributed: Sunday, January 19, 1992 Message Id: cdl-5-36-004 ***Received on Saturday, 11 January, 1992
