Subject: Research topics for Forest Products Laboratory
I have been invited to give a seminar to the federally funded, Forest Products Laboratory, here on campus. They want to know what I do with the statewide program etc. But the major interest for the 350 or so scientists there is what does my field need to know about forest products in order to preserve/conserve library materials. They want ideas for research projects. This could be a good opportunity to interest a group of wood science people in some of our concerns. Some things that occurred to me included the recent questions about lignin and modified lignin; oxidative deterioration in paper; effects of the various alkalization processes. I'd appreciate any 'suggestions for suggestions'. The talk will be in May, so there is lots of time to put the nets heads together on this. *** Conservation DistList Instance 2:13 Distributed: Sunday, March 19, 1989 Message Id: cdl-2-13-004 ***Received on Monday, 13 March, 1989
