Capital Equipment Time is here again and the following may be of some
use to someone.

h,
some info on combopresses

Fact 1) The October, 1987 CAN has an ad on the back cover for
POLYPRESS, manufactured (or more likely sold) by

    Mekatronics, Inc. Bendror International, Ltd.
    85 Channel Dr.
    Port Washington, Ny 11050
    (516) 883-6805

Fact 2) I called Frank Yezar and he said the green presses they
have at HRHRC are NOT Vagelli but "Multipurpose Bookbinding
Presses" manufactured by

    Schwab Mehrzwerkpresse
    Hauptstrasse 102
    D-8126 Hohenpeissenberg
    West Germany.

They paid about $1700 (1600 + 100 shipping) for these about four
thousand years ago. Frank guesses that we should estimate $25-2700
now.

Conjecture A) I suspect these machines are the same. I have a call in
to a Mr. Bendror and will verify, get prices etc.

To continue: I talked to Mr. Bendror at Mekatronics and he says the
Polypress is indeed the Schwab machine. The cost is $3108 complete
(plus $150 for shipping). Three components are optional and you can
reduce the price accordingly

    1. A platform (that sits below the jaws of the press and can be an
aid in alignment for edition work $290
    2. Backing Jaws $290
    3. Plough $370

I have a platform on my hickok mutoid press and have never used it. As
general opinion doesnt rate the Schwab plough highly you might thus get
away for as little as $2400 (+shipping).
