Disaster Planning workshops- forwarded

FYI in case you aren't on the ConsDist list, here is the workshop
schedule for workshops to be presented by the California Preservation
Program/UC Conservation Dept. Interns.

Date: 14 Aug 96
From: Pamela Heiman <pheiman@library.berkeley.edu>
Subject: Workshop on disaster preparedness

Disaster Preparedness and Response Workshops

Disasters happen everyday. What if a flood or fire strikes your
collection? Will you be ready? See how disasters have affected libraries
and archives and what actions are necessary to preserve your
institution's collection. Remember, the first 18-36 hours are crucial to the
preservation of your collection. Learn to write a disaster plan for the
immediate actions you must take. Be prepared for a disaster by taking a
two day workshop at one of the following locations.

    Eureka Sept. 5 & 12, 1996
    South Lake Tahoe Sept. 20 & Oct. 11, 1996
    Sacramento Sept. 26 & Oct. 10, 1996
    Redding Oct. 24 & Nov. 7, 1996
    Chico Nov. 8 & 15, 1996

The workshops are presented by the California Preservation Interns,
Pamela Heiman and Charles Varnes. Support has been provided by the
California State Library and the University of California, Berkeley
Library, Conservation Department.

Don't be caught unprepared. Register today. Your registration fee of
$20.00 includes lunch at the first session. For further information call
510-643-7544.
