RE: [AV Media Matters] Brighter Lamps for film bench viewers?Viewer recommendat

Steve,
I'm not familiar with the equipment you mentioned, but we have
successfully
replaced old lamps that are obsolete with MR16s. We mounted one lamp in
our
16mm Athena projector and another in our RTI viewer. . We found
several
old video camera power supplies at auction for $15 to $20 as our power
source. Brackets for the lamps are available at any lighting store. We
replaced the standard 300watt bulb in the Athena with a 50w and
discovered
that it was just as bright. The added benefit is a bulb with 3000 hours
of
use as opposed to only 40 hours. The MR16s are a whole lot cheaper as
well.
I hope this will work to your advantage as well.

Subject: [AV Media Matters] Brighter Lamps for film bench viewers?
Viewer
recommendations

Greetings list,

Does anyone have any experience or advice in replacing the standard
tungsten
lamps used in movie film viewers, with a brighter, whiter bulb.
I have several viewers such as Moviola and Muray and want to modify them
if
possible.

Also, any opinions on which brands of viewers are best, or least
damaging,
etc. for 35mm, 16mm, 8mm, Super-8, etc.?

Thanks in advance.
