Time to go back to Physics 101.  X-rays from an airport scanner will not
change the magnetic domains on a tape or other magnetic media such as a
floppy disc but magnetic fields generated by the motors that drive the belts
can do damage.  This was a problem with early machines and no longer seems
to be a problem in major airports.
