RE: [AV Media Matters] Long-term presentation: digital

Dale E. Treleven posted a question that got buried in the avalanche of
automatic responses:

<<I'd be interested--and maybe others on this list, too--in learning from
any topica.com contributors any recent definitive information on the
*long-term*--e.g. 50 years--preservation prognoses for various digital
formats. Or aren't there any--aside, possibly, from manufacturers'
claims? Thanks....Dale>>

At this time, there is no ideal digital video format because they either use
compression or are very expensive. Also, long media life is only half the
problem. Do you really expect to find an operating machine 50 years from
now?

We will be discussing this topic at a Saturday session at the AMIA
Conference
in LA in November.
