This has been dealt with in the past.  I'm sure the Music Library
Association web site will have responses in its archives.

Tattle tape unbalances the CD.  The adhesive is untested and may well
(probably, in my opinion) interact with the lacquer.  Eventually a portion
of the aluminum becomes oxidized and non reflective.  So long, CD.
