[AV Media Matters] Storage of playback equipment

Are there any generally accepted recommendations for long-term storage
conditions for playback components including tape decks, monitors, video
projectors, etc., and replacement parts for them? At our museum many of
these components are part of an "installation" piece and are therefore
important not only for their functional role but also, sometimes, for their
visual role as a physical part of the installation itself.

At present the equipment is stored in an area that is not climate controlled
but, though a bit warm, has relatively moderate conditions, except in
winter, when the RH is very low (like 10-20%). I'm guessing that issues such
as filtration of dust and other contaminants is as or more imporant than
temperature and RH. What do others say?
