yes, a distinct possibility - no formal announcement (as also lacking
with 'The Mad Ravings of John McCullough,' starting with "They say I'm mad...").
The 'Phonoscope' mentions that a phonograph Exhibitor was run out of town
(in Colorado) for even deigning to play the hanging/burning record in public,
far away from its original location in TX. If one hears the name of "Vance"
(the victim) in the "monologue", that would certainly be an additional clue.
'The Confession of Harry Hayward' has however turned up, as Tim Brooks can
attest... and that was only a murder for hire. Likewise, 'The Confession of H. H.
Holmes,' an early serial killer (27 direct victims, but punishment for only
one), began anonymously with "During the past few months...".
