Re: [ARSCLIST] DAT Repair

I have repaired a number of DATs, and feel that the ends should be spliced to new leader only, never in the middle - the edges passing over the heads can damage them severely. So one part goes to its leader, and the other to the end leader of a new salvaged shell. This is why I always keep a damaged DAT, since you can't buy DAT-zeros...

You will lose some, but better than hurting a deck!

Ho all ye tape gurus,

I've got a Fuji R-120 R-DAT tape that has a FOUR FOOT tear (rip). Is there
any use of trying to repair it along the torn section or should I just cut
my losses (approximately FOUR FEET of loss) and do a but end splice.

Any thoughts appreciated! :-)

Martin
