Re: [ARSCLIST] 1941 Tannhauser wanted

The Tannhäuser performance of January 4, 1941 with Erich Leinsdorf conducting, Laurits Melchior Kirsten Flagstad et al. is - at least in Europe - easily available on Line Music ( http://www.linemusic.de ) Line 5.00933. It has to be said though, that this is a set of two MP3-CDs containing four complete Tannhäuser performances from possibly dubious sources. So, if sound quality is of concern, searching the original MET-LPs may be the only solution (e.g. here http://newyork.kijiji.com/c-For-sale-Movies-music-Historic-Metropolitan-Opera-LPs-never-opened-W0QQAdIdZ67800090 ).

Best wishes,

The request is what was in the message, no further info..a Met box set is probably exactly what she's looking for. Her address is in the original message if you have one for her.

Could you supply a few more specifics? Are you referring to one of those RCA-produced box sets,of historic broadcasts, that were given away as subscription premiums,by The Met in the early 80s?I have a couple, that I was never able to sell. One of these may be "Tannhauser".

Anyone know if this is available anywhere? Does Omega Opera
Archives still exist? Did the Met issue it?
