The problem is this: the term "jazz" is so all-inclusive that "jazz fans" are divided into a veritable host of (usually OPPOSING) subsets...ranging from those who insist that "jazz was invented in New Orleans...and that style remains the ONLY 'true' JAZZ...!!" all the way to those who claim to love and understand "avant- garde" jazz (Which I can't do!!)...! In the meantime, there has always existed a vigourous debate as to whether "Swing" is, or is NOT, "jazz"...?!
