Hi, Dave,
The RCA sound tapes ran at 3.75 or 1.88 in/s and could be stereo or
mono. They are the same track configuration (as far as I can tell) as
standard open-reel 1/4-track tapes. I have transferred a fair number
over the years. There was some commercial product released in this format.
Sometimes the loading wasn't accurate which caused some weird track wandering.
