Re: [ARSCLIST] Splice repair

By the way, has anyone heard of using a sauna? A dry one, presumably.

This is kind of the long way around. The food dehydrator method preserves
the condition of tape to tape splices remarkably well. Most splices to paper
leader will need to be replaced even if the tape has no sticky-shed problem.

Determining which segments need treatment is very difficult without clogging
up the guides of the reproduce machine in the process. I would just hold the
reel up to the light and make sure none of the masters pass light which
means they are acetate base and should not be baked. This would be very
unlikely for anything produced after the late 1960s.
