Re: [ARSCLIST] Pristine Audio and the Milllennials . . .

Same with the UK.What's more,78s were pressed in the US,as late as 1961,for use in jukeboxes,in runs of 25-100 copies,I think.1960 is the latest such US R&B 78s I own.I have some rock 78s,including an Elvis, and a mega-rare Ventures ,pressed in South Africa, from 1960-62.78s were pressed in much of South America, through at least the end of 1962.I have an Argentine sleeve,of unknown vintage, from some tiny label, advertising stereo 78s.I believe there is a South African Reprise stereo 78 out there of "Granada",by Frank Sinatra. The Philippines stopped pressing 78s,in late 1964 IIRC,India about a year later. All of these 78s are quite rare and collectible nowadays.

Now how about Turkey?A couple of years back,I bought a copy of "Personality", by Lioyd Price on a Turkish HMV 78,on eBone.

don't care for opera,so I have no real knowledge of this.Rarity has been created
in the near-50 years since the 78 died. How often do you see blue shellac
Columbias,wartime EMI 78s by Von Karajan ( I mention this,as I recently scored
one.),or Victor batwing leather-bound album sets ? 78s break,creating fewer
copies over time.Millions were recycled during the war effort. You may see 1000s
of Tommy Dorsey on Victor, but finding The Robins on early 50s RCA,is a bit of a
different story.I buy and sell 78s on eBay. Non-operatic classical,and 1945-60
R&B/rock are my meat.
Then I hope you're aware that up here in Canada 78's were issued a year or
two longer than in the US of A...meaning there are rock'n'roll records
issued up here that never appeared on 78 "south of the border"...!
