[ARSCLIST] external sound card recommendations

Two years ago I purchased a Philips Aurilium PSC805 for use with my 
laptop.  I used it sparingly, and never was able to used all the 
features.  Now I'm trying a new setup where I can easily use either the 
laptop or the desktop for recording.  I can't get the Aurilium to work 
on the desktop at all, and I'm tired of waiting for a response from tech 
support at Philips.

Any ideas on a good external sound card that can record mic, line-in and 
even turntable.  The Blaze Audio USB 5.1 Channel Audio Adapter looks 
like it would meet my needs.  But I know nothing about Blaze Audio.  
Would I be wasting $70 on their product (along with a phono preamp)?   
Any other suggestions?
