Re: [ARSCLIST] SACD et al. sales figures

With SACD, I think the real story on sales would be Japan and USA. I betcha Europe sales are dwarfed by Japan but I might be wrong.

Does Soundscan tally separate SACD sales? But there again, I'm not sure how much Soundscan data would mean since I betcha most USA sales of SACD are via internet outlets like Acoustic Sounds and Amazon.

If Germany sales were 200,000 in 2006, I'd estimate worldwide total sales (all titles) were between 5 and 10 million. I know, very large varience and hence useless statistic, just an estimate.

There has been a discussion about sales figures of high resolution digital media on this list recently, so here are at least the figures for Germany for 2006 as compiled by the German branch of IFPI (all numbers are millions, the complete report can be seen here: http://www.ifpi.de/wirtschaft/jahreswirtschaftsbericht_2006.pdf):

Unfortunately, the site cannot be found as given. Drop off the punctuation at the end to get
http://www.ifpi.de/wirtschaft/jahreswirtschaftsbericht_2006.pdf
and the page works, but does not open for me in FireFox. However, it can be saved from there, opens standalone, and proves to have other useful data.
