Re: [ARSCLIST] Cedar

On 26 maj 2007, at 06.01, Parker Dinkins wrote:

Well on 9 May Cedar's Clive Osborn wrote to me:

"The price of a fully loaded CEDAR Cambridge system is high (around £47,000), but in practice hardly anyone buys a system like this because there are specific modules for forensic work, others for your application and some for film dialogue etc. So typically a system will sell for between £20,000 to £38,000."

And he wrote, a few days before that, giving some background information as the Finnish distributor hadn't bothered to get around at that time to answering the sales lead passed by CEDAR to them:

Option 1

CEDAR Duo DDC Declickle = £3,500
CEDAR Duo DDH Auto Dehiss = £3,500
CEDAR ADA = £450

Total Price = £7,450

Option 2

CEDAR Cambridge Host System = £6,250
CAM6 Declickle and Vintage Decrackle = £5,000
CAM3/A Auto Dehiss = £3,500
CEDAR ADA = £450

Total Price = £15,200

Option 3

As Option 2, but with CAM18 NR-5 supplied

Total Price = £20,700

All prices quoted were also excluding VAT ("sales tax") I believe which is a further 17.5% in the U.K.

With the USD to GBP at nearly 2 one can see a price of circa 30 to 40 thousand U.S. or up to 60 thousand U.S. according to the later mail.

Perhaps a complete CEDAR Cambridge system might cost around that amount, but
I fail to see why any record collector would ever need the extensive
forensic and dialog enhancement tools that would be included in such a
system.
