Re: [ARSCLIST] Digitizing libraries

The Prelinger Library Digital Collection now includes over 1,630 monographs,
serials volumes and print ephemera. More are continually being added. All
are freely available in a variety of downloadable formats, including searchable
PDFs, DjVu, and raw (uncorrected) OCRed text. The PDFs are color facsimiles
and may be printed and bound if desired.

The library may be accessed and metadata searched here:

http://www.archive.org/details/prelinger_library

Approximately 100 works relating to the history of educational and sponsored
film are currently in the collection.

A sample search for works with "film" in the title, may be seen here:

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=film%20%20AND%20%28contributor%3A%22Pr

More works may be seen by substituting "films" or "motion pictures" for
"film" in the previous query.

32 works pertaining to the history, technology and sociology of television
may be accessed through the following query:

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=television%20AND%20%28contributor%3A%2

Many more titles, including runs of key periodicals, will be added in 2007.

The entire collection (currently 100,000 books and growing) from several
research libraries may be searched fulltext at http://books.live.com.

Please feel free to pass this on to others who may be interested.
