reading devices? I've heard that they are getting pretty
good at mimmicing most of the advantages of paper, but I've
never seen one in person. If they're as good as they say,
they could be an option for downloading - and just "self
destruct" the text at the due date.

I have used the Palm Reader function on my Palm IIIc for several years
now. I have paid up to $15 for a download. I have read many books with
it. I try to keep one or two on the gizmo at all times, and this has proved
to be a life saver, when stuck in a parking lot or waiting room. The Palm
library is pretty good sized, both classics and best sellers. The books live
on your computer until you download them to the PDA. When you're done
reading, you take them off the PDA, but they still live on your computer if
you wanted to read them again. You are pretty much restricted to using just
that PDA, so you can't share a book with someone else without sharing the
PDA. The PDA is backlit, so reading in bed is very easy. Another feature
that is appealing is that you can make the type larger. FBS
