Actually, the place to find Jubilee records in NY was in the record store right next to the Chelsea Hotel. Bought many there. Smith, Dale, etc.

I have a very vague recollection that before a disc would listed, one had
to send a copy to Schwann. As to a label being dropped for a time, I do
not know why that would happen.

Then there were discs that were in Schwann for years but which you never found in
stores. I think Jubilee pressed one copy of "Smith and Dale at the Palace" and sent it
to Schwann. No NY record store (or anywhere else I tried) was able to come up with a
copy when I tried, back in the late 60s and early 70s. I finally found a copy about 10
years ago, so it actually did exist.
