The actual weight of the platter was much lighter in the early '70s ('72 to
'76 IIRC). RCA with Dynaflex was one of the worst offenders, churning out
sub-100g platters that wobbled and flexed and warped with a sideways glance.
Still, not the lightest weight I've ever seen. That dubious 'honor' goes to
some South American pressings I have that are 60g.

So, a jacketed LP weighs about the same as (or slightly more than)
a 10" 78. One wonders if the ultra-thin LP's of the seventies
weigh significantly less than their earlier counterparts...?
