I preferred one and sometimes another over their heads feeding the
chamber. Cal Harris, my mentor, always did separate but the rest of us
stuck with single. (Cal had started out at Western Recorders and Gold Star
in LA recording the Beach Boys vocal overdubs among others.)
Before we went to cans in '65, I understand people gathered around the
mike listening to the band track on the A-7 playback speaker.
