I wouldn't say he was happy at all. Pete was not making much money because
of the blacklist. According to Seeger's biography, Asch kept the Seegers
eating throughout the fifties by paying him a fixed weekly sum that started at $25
"in lieu of royalties." And Asch kept Pete working. By 1955 he had made 29
albums for Folkways. He testified before the HUAC in August of 1955 and if it
wasn't for the Folkways recordings, he would not have had any income.
