This event is coming together at the last minute so pardon the short notice, but DC area ARSC members and others may be interested in the following program:

Early Sound and Film Technologies at the Library of Congress

The next meeting of the Washington Metropolitan Area chapter of ARSC will be a joint session with Association of Audio Engineers focusing on a fascinating part of the Library of Congress's audio-visual holdings. Mike Mashon, Head of the Moving Image Section at the Library of Congress, will screen examples of early sound-and-film technologies from the Library's collection. Included will be films from Thomas Edison, the DeForest Phonofilm, and the Vitaphone Corporation. Examples of some of the earlier sound formats used for film will also be on display.
