dBx Type I for open reel, dBx Type II for cassette.
The dBx system works over the entire audio frequency range, using a 2:1/1:2
compression/expansion ratio. There is also a treble boost of about 12 dB
during the recording process. This aids in the elimination of hiss and
modulation noise when the signal is decoded (played back).
