"Project-Gramophone" was originated by Jon Noring, who wanted
to create an entity containing (in theory) sound-file copies
of every 78rpm record (I think there was a farward cutoff
date, possibly the AFM ban) as well as a discographic database
containing such information on every (or as close as possible)
78rpm record in existence. Of course, there was some question
as to whether the sound-file archive could be made accessible
given US copyright laws and the attitudes of the recording
industry today.

I still feel this would be a useful archive, although whether
it could be created becomes a serious question of impracticability!
