Re: [ARSCLIST] Edward R. Murrow "Hear It Now", etc.
Thanks to all who have responded to my comment about what I perceive to be
faster speaking announcers in the late '30s and through the '40s.
I have the 2 CD set "Carousel of American Music", a broadcast of Sept. 24,
1940, featuring many composers performing their own works. The playback is at
the correct speed, yet the announcers appear to be racing through the
continuity. Hardly a moment to breathe! This is not the only example of such fast
speech' many radio shows have the same speedy announcers (and I'm not speaking
about 'Speedy' Riggs!). Am I alone in noticing this rapidity of speech?
