If you are using a CRT monitor, the high voltage sweep and switching
power supply circuitry can generate all sorts of electromagnetic
interferance that can be inductively coupled to anything in proximity..
Absolutely !!

Is the sound card inside the PC case or is it external? Unless
properly
shielded any internal card (and cables) are prone to induced
interference from the rather audio-hostile world of the computer.

Dear Group members

I recently bought a Dell Optiplex GX620 computer with Windows XP. I
use
a Terratec DMX6Fire soundcard. When I make recordings using Adobe
Audition or Wavelab, I get a buzzing noise - a problem I have never
had
with my previous computer. Can anyone perhaps help me solve the
problem?

Kind regards,

Diederick Basson
