It's just a suggestion! Take it or leave it.

It was designed for video, so obviously has its limitations.

It was also conforming with MARC and Dublin Core (you can see the mapping if you get the template), but broke
out the sub-fields in MARC to individual fields, so they are searchable.

I am not endorsing MARC, but at the time IMAP (or shoud I say Media Alliance, we're talking 1995..) was trying to
establish credibility for small archives, artists, etc. whose collections were being ignored for reasons of not
knowing about or meeting standards.

of course, the IMAP template is suited to tape, not files.
